Русский: Это изображение было использовано для иллюстрирования статьи «Дисковые снаряды (сплюснутые)» опубликованной в девятом томе «Военной энциклопедии», который был издан книгоиздательским товариществом И. Д. Сытина в 1912 году в столице Российской империи городе Санкт-Петербурге.


Артиллерийское орудие для стельбы дисковыми снарядами с гладким элиптическим каналом делается по длине слегка, изогнутым в виде дуги круга и при стрельбе расположено выпуклостью кверху, так чтобы сплюснутый снаряд, имеющий вид хлебца (на фотографии справа) при выстреле центробежной силой прижимается к верх. производящей дугообраз. канала, и катится по ней, получая желаемое вращение. Подобное орудие, изготовленное в России и хранящееся в Артиллерийском историческом музее Петербурга, испытывалось под руководством профессора балистики Н. В. Маиевского.
